The startup Best Shot’s mission is to improve patient experience and success for those going through the often stressful and costly in vitro fertilization process. Their goal is to provide both a companion app for patients as well as a cloud based admin dashboard for clinics to monitor and support their patients. The current system is outdated, relying on paper medication lists, binders, a lack of pharmacy and drug information, and hard to find medicine administration instructions. These deficiencies add unnecessary stress and a greater chance of failure. Best Shot hopes to change that.
Patient companion app
We designed an intuitive native app clinics can provide their patients as their daily go-to for everything they need during the fertility process like buying and administering meds, daily regimen tasks, messaging, and helpful articles.
A relatable brand
Everything from the logo, colors, fonts, imagery, and messaging was thoughtfully designed to be relatable, stress reducing, and comforting for the diverse group of women who go through fertility treatments.
A cloud-based clinic dashboard provides nurses and RN’s to easily view a patients regimen, meds, compliance, and send messages straight to the patient app.
Features that solve patient goals
Focus groups, surveys, and patient and clinic interviews provided a clear feature set that solves the largest problems abating the current patient experience and success rate.
We created a product video to share with clinics showing key features of the patient app and clinic dashboard. Best Shot is currently in talks with one of the top IVF clinics as a pilot program and is in the process of app development.

Research and Strategy
Stakeholder, patient, and nurse and RE interviews as well as focus groups helped in persona creation and mind-mapping to create a MVP feature-set that solves both patient and clinic pain-points.
Sitemap and Information Architecture
We grouped together top patient and clinic goals into categories which helped form an intuitive sitemap. We then created key user scenarios and mapped them out which influenced steps in the user journey. For each step we again looked at user goals and created an intuitive UI and information structure outline that helped accomplish each efficiently and effectively.
The brand, design, & prototyping
We explored various creative concepts to come up with an approach that communicates effectively for both the patient and clinics mental model. Our creative is designed to be calming and stress reducing while appealing to the diverse group of patients who seek fertilization treatments. We achieved this through the use of pastel colors, soft gradients, diverse imagery and illustration, clean layout, and friendly typography and iconography.
Product Demo Video
Prior to development, it was imperative to show both clinics and potential investors the value provided by Best Shot. We produced a short, informational demo video with key patient scenarios, app features, and the cloud-based clinic dashboard.
Currently, Best Shot is working with a world class fertility clinic to pilot the service and is in talks with investors and development contractors. Initial feedback from both clinics, patients and interested investors has been extremely positive. We are moving forward with both design and building out the initial patient app.
